Saskia de Groote is a Belgian conductor who is a complete musician, interpreting classical, romantic and contemporary music with ease and assurance.
Her interpretations have flair and fine musical sense and she shows an idiomatic understanding of the composer's intentions.
Saskia starts practising orchestral conducting at the Royal Conservatory of Musuc in Ghent. Her first Masterclass in Ireland with Maestro Atso Almila, Professor at the Sibelius Academy, and the invitation to conduct in Finland one month later makes her even more determined to become a skilled conductor.
Saskia then continues her studies in London.
Furthermore she has attended Masterclasses with many eminent conductors, including Julius Kalmar, Lior Shambadal, Romolo Gessi, Giovanni Pacor, Toby Purser, Achim Holub and Atso Almila.
She has conducted in Finland, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Ireland and the UK.
To date Saskia has conducted several orchestras, including the Berliner Symphoniker, Camerata Antonio Soler, Orchestra Filarmonia Veneta, I Maestri,
Kammerphilharmonie Graz, Seinäjoki Orchestra, Sibelius Academy Orchestra.
Saskia is a vastly experienced musician who started her career as a leading violinist.
She has obtained the Diplôme Supérieur at the prestigious Royal Conservatory of Music Brussels, where she was invited to study with André Gertler. She then continued her studies with Rosa Fain at the Hochschule für Musik in Düsseldorf, for which she has received the Diplom der Künstlerischen Abschlussprüfung.
After that, she has attended the Hogeschool voor Kunsten in Utrecht to study with Philippe Hirshhorn.
To refine her education, she has participated in several Masterclasses with renowned musicians such as Berl Senofsky, Yfrah Neaman, Toshiya Eto, Ruggiero Ricci, Pierre Amoyal, Peter Zazofsky and Herman Krebbers.
She then developed her performing career by playing in several orchestras, chamber orchestras and chamber music ensembles.
Her talent is widely recognised and she is regarded as a supreme musician with enormous experience and vigour.
