Alessandro Boratti (Rovereto, 1986) è attivo come compositore e pianista. Attualmente vive a Londra. Ha studiato armonia, contrappunto e orchestrazione con Nicola Straffelini e pianoforte jazz con Renzo Vigagni. Ha poi conseguito il Diploma Accademico di secondo livello in Composizione al Conservatorio Arrigo Boito di Parma sotto la guida dei maestri Luca Tessadrelli e Luigi Abbate, e la laurea in Antropologia Culturale presso l’Università degli Studi di Bologna. Ha frequentato masterclasses di importanti compositori e improvvisatori, tra cui Vincenzo Cresta, Fabrizio De Rossi Re, Sandro Gorli, Carlos Marecos, Tristan Honsinger, Stefano Battaglia. 

La sua attività di compositore si concentra sulle intersezioni tra notazione e improvvisazione, e su quelle tra musica e scienze sociali. Nel 2008 ha co-fondato il collettivo di teatro musicale Abele di Babele. Come arrangiatore e performer ha collaborato con cantanti, scrittori, attori e realtà culturali in particolare dell’area emiliana (Narkissos Contemporary Art Gallery, Massimiliano Chiamenti, Gabriele Zobele, Debora Binci, Pierre Campagnoli).

Sue composizioni sono state eseguite da vari solisti ed ensembles, tra cui Fabrizio Ottaviucci, Fontanamix, AltreVoci, AdM, Quatuor Chouette. Ha collaborato attivamente con realtà importanti della musica di ricerca italiana ed europea, tra cui il festival Multiversal (Oslo/Berlino), il centro Tempo Reale (Firenze) e il collettivo anonimo Kapuziner Strasse.

Tra i progetti principali: Quei là postadi al mur (2011) per voce recitante, quattro cantanti e trio jazz; Gershwin vs Porter, (arrangiamenti per voce e pianoforte); i cicli compositivi Digitans (2016-2018) e Ludofonia (2012-2018) per varie formazioni di interpreti classici e improvvisatori.

In 2016  he is founder of the DIGITANS trio (consisting of two keyboard players and an actress) in order to develop the cycle of compositions of the same name in a musical theatre context. The group performed in a number of  festivals and cultural events in Northern Italy between 2016 and 2018.

Quei là postadi al mur – cantata per Malga Zonta (2011)

for a speaker, four singers/actors, keyboards, banjo, electric bass and drums.

 

95% (2009), art installation in collaboration with the artist Ivan Pjevcevic. Audioart work; exposed in the exhibition Iconoclastie in Basilica di Santo Stefano (Bologna, Italy).

 

In 2008 he is co-founder of the collective Abele di Babele, taking a practical and

theoretical interest in musical theatre, folk music, improvisation and links between oral

traditions and written texts.
